King's Lynn B Connection

Welcome to the consultation website for the National Grid King’s Lynn B power station connection project.

Consultation documents related to the final stage of consultation are available here.

The consultation period ended on 11 May 2012. Thank you to everyone who provided comments on our proposals.

Energy company Centrica has consent to build a new 981 megawatt gas-fired power station, King’s Lynn B, at Willows Business Park, King’s Lynn. This will generate approximately three times the power of the existing power station.

National Grid has a legal obligation to connect new electricity generators to its high-voltage transmission network and has a contract with Centrica to connect the proposed new power station to this network. To do this, we will need to build a new 400,000 volt (400kV) overhead line from the power station to a point on the existing Walpole to Norwich 400kV overhead line. In 2012, National Grid will submit an application to the Secretary of State for consent to build a new overhead line.

You can use this website to find out more about our proposals, including the need for the new power station connection and the three stages of consultation. You can also find out about National Grid’s public consultation events – including dates and locations – browse a library of documents related to the project, and find answers to common questions.

You can also ask the project team a question by contacting the Community Relations team.

We hope you find the website helpful.
